About Duga Uvala….
The Istrian peninsula, situated in the westernmost part of Croatia, has always been a very special area. The same can be said for the tourist region of Istria which, although it comprises only a single county, the County of Istria, it is without question the primary tourist region of Croatia. Its quite unique qualities are the result of its location - sitting where the Mediterranean Sea insinuates itself deepest into the European mainland, and being isolated from the bulk of Croatia by the Učka massif. That is why, despite its greatly predominant Croatian population, Istria was under foreign rule from long-distant 7th century right up until some 60 years ago. Its singular position and the blend of various influences have resulted in a special culture and landscape, music, gastronomy... all of which are the reasons why this patch of land is lovingly known as the “land of magic”.
Istria's past is unrepeatable and magnificent. Today, it is the only Croatian Region witnessing significant positive trends in almost all areas of life. Istria is today a recognised and renowned European region, and it has a clear perspective. Competitive economy, vigorous science, creative culture, and constant environmental protection are only a few of the objectives they are already realising.
Duga Uvala (Long Bay) is one of the few destinations that haven’t been commercialized yet. If you seek peace of mind, this is the only place in Istria. Because of the airflow coming down from the Učka Mountain as well as the overall green and the purity of nature, Duga Uvala represents a climatic positivistic centre. Several studies have shown the air in Duga Uvala to be even better compared to Lošinj (Pulmologic centre).
Duga Uvala offers quite a few walking tours in the shade of the authentic Istrian Bor woods, in pure untouched nature, crystal clear blue water and wonderful beaches. Just around the corner there is also a Naturist beach. Everything you need for your well earned vacation!
Within walking distance you will find shops, restaurants etc… There is also a hotel just about 200 meters away, which has sports facilities, a wellness centre and a swimming pool, which is open all year round. Duga Uvala is located 22 km away from Pula and just 10 km from Pula's international airport, which is served by numerous airlines all across Europe.
